The Macallan Lead Whisky Maker Sarah Burgess, presents a peerless single malt whisky that has slowly matured over seven extraordinary decades under the watchful eye of generations of whisky makers, until it has reached this perfect moment of maturation. The ‘new make’ spirit from The Macallan’s small copper stills was laid down in hand-picked oak casks and left to mature for seventy one years. During these decades of slumber, the carefully selected wood shaped the unique character of the whisky delivering the natural colour, distinctive aromas and full flavours of this aged single malt.

The Macallan 71 Year Old from the Red Collection is an exceptionally rare and venerable single malt, shaped by more than seven decades of careful maturation in sherry seasoned oak casks. Produced by The Macallan, it stands as a powerful illustration of the distillery’s long held commitment to cask quality and patient ageing.

The whisky displays a deep, natural colour and an intricate flavour profile, revealing sweet wood spice, ginger and vanilla alongside notes of baked custard, treacle tart, peach and hazelnut. These rich and layered flavours are carried through to a long, gently smoky finish that reflects both age and balance rather than overt power.
