With a rich heritage that goes back to the 16th century, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti needs no introduction. The estate, which is co-owned by the Villaine and Leroy families, is the largest proprietor of grand cru vineyards in Vosne-Romanée. DRC has always cultivated its vines according to the principles of biodynamics and in 2017 obtained the Biodyvin certification. This is the domaine’s flagship wine, the jewel in the property’s crown. The 2019 vintage reveals fresh acidity, plenty of structure and intensity. Expect notes of blackberries, savoury spices and some earthy undertones. A stunning wine that will age gracefully.

Lavender, sage, tobacco and menthol emerge over time, playing beautifully off a core of dark-toned fruit. There is an exotic quality to the 2019 that is hard to fully describe. All I can say is that I have never tasted a Romanée-Conti like this.

That may turn out to be the case here as well, but at the same time there is no denying the wine's remarkable intensity. Lavender, sage, tobacco and menthol emerge over time, playing beautifully off a core of dark-toned fruit. There is an exotic quality to the 2019 that is hard to fully describe. All I can say is that I have never tasted a Romanée-Conti like this.
